Full Match Report:
A very ordinary performance by the team today. Our commitment just wasn't
there. Way too many unforced errors and unusually from our normally solid
defence. Playing against a fully committed Roselea who turned up to play we
let them totaly dominate possession, particualrly in the first half which,
quite amazingly, we won 1-0. But you cannot continue to play like that and
get away with it and Roselea fought back and were well deserved winners in
the end. This result sees our 6 point lead at the top two weeks away trmmied
back to a single point. If the boys want to finally win a division one comp.
then they must all rethink their approach to the game - it definitely will
not happen if we serve this up each week.

First half was a bit scrappy at times and Penno probably had the edge over us. Still too many long balls and not enough urgency to get possession. Half time talk was intended to give boys a rev up and they responded. We managed to get and keep much more ball and repeatedly shut down their attacks keeping their scoring opportunities to a minimum. The last 20 minutes were how we should play all games - committed, uncompromising, hungry. Unlucky to have a goal dissallowed following a poor 'advantage' call by ref but in the end fidn't matter as we got the winner soon after. Definitely the best game (or at least half) we've played so far leaves us deservedly alone at the top of the comp. with a bye to come next week. |
| Age & Division: 21/1 Date: 24/04/2010 Ground: ARCADIA PARK Opposition Team: PENNANT HILLS RED Goal(s) For: 3 Goal(s) Against: 2 Final Result: Win Full Match Report: We started well, moving the ball around nicely as you'd expect to do against a 10 player opposition. The numbers were evened up shortly and still we dominated possession but a surprise goal against the run of play left us behind. Our response was swift. Within a minute of the kickoff we equalled. We again found ourselves behind when the Pennant Hills boys made the most of another chance helped by a deflection on its way to the back of the net. We clawed back with two more goals which we held until the end. It wasn't a game I ever thought we were in danger of losing - we just kept failing to stick to the game plan continuing to pump long balls on the small Arcadia field. If only the boys would get the message and play the safe, usually early ball ALL THE WAY up the field we would have had a more comfortable win. Almost every passge of good play in the back half of the field fell away by a spectulative long ball. Still a good result but we're going to have to lift in the games ahead. 3 wins from 3 starts certainly beats last season's 3 first up losses! |

It was a slow start, with plenty of possession, but with many missed goal scoring opportunities. However once we started to find the mark our confidence grew and the goals followed. Some very nice switches of play and committed defence. Welcome to te team Rob, Rhys and Michael. |
